Teacher Initiative

      A free teacher training program designed to give teachers confidence in using Winston Science hands-on learning strategies in their classroom.

  • Each weekly session will be a stand-alone program that could be attended by any teacher making a reservation.
    Reservations by e-mailing Dr. Marks at lehmanm743@aol.com

  • The teacher training program is based on the recommendations of
    the Texas Academy of Medicine, Engineering, and Science.

  • Teachers will be awarded professional development hours.

  • Some teacher training workshops will be devoted to Engineering to encourage schools to bring more engineering-science into the classroom.

Purpose

The purpose of the Teacher Initiative is to:

  • Encourage group learning through projects and challenges

  • Encourage hands-on learning in the classroom

  • Help develop teacher experience implementing hands-on projects and challenges in their classroom

  • Bring engineering and technology into the classroom

Teacher Workshops

  • Teachers are invited to attend any and all of the workshops scheduled within the Teacher Initiative. Although each workshop will be a “stand alone” topic, there will be an underlying theme:

    • How to prepare and support your students for hands-on learning
      using Winston Science as a focus.

  • Professional Development Hours will be awarded.

  • Please make reservations for the workshop(s) you would like to attend
    by e-mailing Dr. Marks at lehmanm743@aol.com.

Workshop Times: 1:00 – 2:30 PM

Workshop Location: The Winston School, 5707 Royal Lane, Dallas, TX 75229.
