Winner Notification

Contestant Standings

Judges will make every effort to determine a contestant’s standing in a competition. Some event computations will take longer than others due to the nature of that event. Contestants needing to know this information for school should notify the judges prior to the event. Event records will be available for review during the week following the competition.

General Comments

(1) Winston Sciences is founded on the principle that science should be fun, and that all students should have the opportunity for a great learning experience.

(2) Contestants are generally assigned specific times to compete or to present their entry. A contestant who fails to appear at the proper time will be disqualified. For this reason, contestants are encouraged to arrive early for their events.

(3) All entries must comply with good taste and the generally accepted "community standards.” Any entry that goes beyond this rule will be disqualified.

(4) In certain events, students organize themselves to build a single machine or device. This must be considered a single entry, and does not entitle each student to use that device as a separate entry.

(5) By participating, contestants agree to allow photos of their events to be used in Winston Science booklets or web site.

(6) By participating, teachers and/or parents agree to accept responsibility for their students and to properly supervise them before, during, and after the events.

Admission to Event Sites

The front page of this booklet or web site will serve as your identification to enter parking areas associated with the events.

Elementary School Participants

The same rules apply to students in Grades 1-5, but they only compete against students within their grade group.
