The purpose of this competition is to bring art to science. Students will have the opportunity to create a three-dimensional object from a single piece of paper using on a pair of scissors.

Students often make two-dimensional cutouts, but can you create a three-dimensional cutout?

Construction

(1) Students must arrive at the competition already possessing a knowledge of how to make a three-dimensional object from a single piece of paper.

(2) Students arriving for the competition will receive a single piece of white copy paper and a pair of scissors.

(3) Students will have 30 minutes to cut the paper in such a way to create a three-dimensional object.

(4) Judges will evaluate each student and ask them to explain their work.

Judging

(1) Contestants must be present with their three-dimensional paper object to explain their work.

(2) The students will be evaluated based on:

1. The quality of their CutOut
2. The completeness of their explanation.

(3) Prizes will be awarded at the end of the competition.
