(1) Contestants will build a lighter-than-air vehicle using only the materials supplied by the event organizers. The lighter-than-air vehicle that travels the length of the course in the shortest amount of time will be declared the winner
(2) Contestant teams will be equipped with the following items
(3) Contestants will have 30 minutes to build their lighter-than-air vehicles.
(4) On completion of the vehicle, teams will take their lighter-than-air vehicles to the race course.
(5) The race course is a 10m (long) x 3m (wide) x 4m (high).
(6) A large electric fan will provide the driving force that pushes the lighter-than-air vehicle through the course. Teams will have two chances to traverse the course.
(7) Team members can follow along the outside of the boundaries as the vehicle progresses through the course, however, team members can not touch the lighter-than-air vehicle once it starts an official run.
(8) The vehicle completing the course in the shortest amount of time without crossing the course boundaries will be declared the winner. Contacting the boundary line will be ruled as "crossing" the boundary line.
(9) A team's "run" will be disqualified if the vehicle crosses any of the boundaries before reaching the end of the course.
(10) A team's vehicle can bounce off the floor, but will be disqualified if their vehicle drags or comes to a rest on the floor during the course of their "run".
(11) Teams losing balloons prior to the event will not be issued new supplies. They will be able to compete, but must make the appropriate adjustments to their ballast materials.
