Science Fiction Short Film Competition
(1) Contestants must submit their VHS tape or DVD for judging no later than 6:00 PM, Friday, November 7, 2008 at the Winston School. Films received after this deadline will not be evaluated.
(2) There is no limitation on the number of students that can participate in the production of a single film entry.
(3) The Topic for the 2008 Science Fiction Short Film Competition is:
Rockets
(4) Films will be judged based on originality, imagination, creativity, special effects, and adherence to the theme. Grade groups will apply.
(5) Each film must last not less than 4 minutes nor more than 8 minutes. Any entry that violates these requirements will be disqualified.
(6) Entries may be submitted on VHS or DVD format. The following information must be clearly visible:
- Title
- Name of Team Captain
- Home phone of Team Captain
- School & Grade Group
(7) After the films are judged, finalists will be announced on the Winston Science web page.
(8) Finalists will be honored at a special reception scheduled for 7:30 PM on Monday, November 24, 2008.
Science Fiction Short Story Competition
(1) Contestants must submit their short story for judging no later than 6:00 PM, Friday, November 7, 2008, at the Winston School. Stories received after this deadline will not be evaluated.
(2) Only one person can work on a single short story submission.
(3) The Topic for the 2008 Science Fiction Short Story Competition is:
Rockets
(4) Stories will be judged based on originality, imagination, creativity, and adherence to the theme. Stories will be judged based on grade group levels.
(5) The short story must be submitted on 8.5” x 11” white paper. Stories may be typed or handwritten, but all papers must be double-spaced. No binder or cover is permitted. Handwritten entries must use either blue or black ink.
(6) The short story must have the following information placed on the back of the last page of the story:
- Title
- Name of Team Captain
- Home phone of Contestant
- School & Grade Group
(7) After the stories are judged, the finalists will be announced on the Winston Science web page.
(8) Finalists will be honored at a special reception scheduled for 7:30 PM on Monday, November 24, 2008.
